  Meet Our Psychiatric Providers

 


Northern Pines is currently working to build up its psychiatry department. As present, our psychiatric providers include:

Dr Jones Robert B Jones, MD Psychiatrist

Providing Rapid Access Psychiatry through Northern Pines MH

Dr. Jones serves as the Medical Director for Mental Health for State Operated Services in Northern Minnesota through the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

He also maintains a private medical consulting corporation, established 20 years ago, through which he provides psychiatric services to private and federal organizations, including Northern Pines Mental Health Center.

His education includes B.S. degrees in biology and chemistry from the University of Oregon and Lewis & Clark College; a Fellowship in Neurological Sciences at the Good Samaritan Medical Center Neurological Services Institute in Portland, Oregon; a Medical Student Fellowship in neuropsychiatry at the Oregon Health Sciences University where he earned his M.D. in 1980; and a candidate for a master's degree in Medical Management through Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He conducted his professional training in psychiatry and internal medicine at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Dr. Jones serves as a clinical faculty member and chief resident and instructor at the University of Minnesota Medical School's Department of Psychiatry.

He was honored as a Laughlin Fellow by the American College of Psychiatrists in 1983-84.

He holds licenses in Psychiatry and Neurology, as well as certification as a Medical Examiners Diplomat.

Dr. Jones and his family also own and operate the Farm on St. Mathias near Brainerd.


Dr Chapa Dr. Diana Chapa, MD, Psychiatrist

Dr. Diana Chapa holds a Medical License with the State of Minnesota, with certifications in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and General Psychiatry. Dr. Chapa has been serving as the Clinical Director of Inpatient Services at the Child and Adolescent State Operated Behavioral Hospital in Willmar, Minnesota since 2007. Prior to that, she served as a psychiatric provider for both HealthPartners and CentraCare in St. Cloud Minnesota, at Northern Pines Mental Health Center in Little Falls Minnesota, and for CG & Associates, S.C., in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. She was associated with the University of Minnesota Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship program and was an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.  She has made numerous presentations on child & adult psychiatry, children’s mental health, behavioral health issues, women’s and cultural issues in medicine and psychiatry, and healthy life choices in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Washington D.C. Dr. Chapa was named one of America’s Top Psychiatrists in 2009 by the Consumer’s Research Council of America, received a Faculty Teaching Award from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2003, and holds several other awards. She is a member of the Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Minnesota Medical Association and the American College of Physician Executives.



Linda Hertz Linda Hertz, RN, CNS

Linda is a Board Certified Advanced Practice Nurse with extensive experience in mental health treatment. She earned her master’s degree in nursing at the University of Minnesota, and has 20 years of inpatient psychiatric nursing experience from Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato. Linda has experience working in a residential mental illness / chemical dependency treatment program, and has 10 years of psychiatric prescribing experience in clinical and crisis center settings.


Rosemary Leonard Rosemary Leonard, MA, RN, CNS

Rosemary provides outpatient psychiatric treatment and services for children and adolescents, and is a consultant for Northern Pines' school-based mental health programs. Rosemary has more than 25 years of experience in the areas of psychiatric and critical care nursing. Her psychiatric experience includes practice in acute hospital care; 10 years in child and adolescent residential treatment; and 12 years of outpatient services at several Minnesota community mental health centers. Rosemary holds advanced degrees in social psychology, nursing and clinical counseling, and obtained credentials for prescriptive practive in 1998 at the University of Minnesota. Rosemary is board certified as an advanced practice clinical specialist in child and adolescent psychiatric nursing.
