It is our goal to assist youth to remain in their homes, schools, and communities by addressing their individual mental health needs in the least restrictive environment, accomplished by various treatment interventions in the context of safe, trusting and nurturing relationships.
|
CTSS is a counseling program offered in the school, for students with emotional/behavioral difficulties that prevent them from learning in a traditional classroom setting.
|
 |
School based Children's Therapeutic Support Services, or CTSS, is a counseling program consisting of skill training, counseling, and therapy for students with emotional/behavioral difficulties. A diagnostic assessment will be completed which will determine needed services, such as:

An individualized treatment plan is developed for the student and family, which is culturally
sensitive and addresses family concerns. The goals set within the treatment plan are measured
for success and once the child reaches consistency in completing these goals, they then
graduate from the program.
The individual and group therapy and/or skills training are provided during the school day, while the family contacts may be held in the school or home outside of regular treatment
hours.
Commitment by the parent(s) for these services is required to ensure that parents are informed of their child’s academic and treatment progress.
Transition plans are developed individually based on the student's needs.
During the summer we also have a program for students to participate in groups, independent
living skills, and fun field trips!
The program provides a safe and nurturing environment where the student can examine their difficulties and make corrective changes. Skills are taught in: |
| |
 |
Anger Control |
 |
Independent Living |
 |
Problem Solving |
 |
Conflict Resolution |
 |
Decision Making |
 |
Communication |
 |
Self-Esteem |
 |
Stress Reduction |
|
| |
The subject matter is introduced primarily through the modalities of skills training groups and/or group psychotherapy. The skills are then generalized and reinforced in the academic setting. The cooperative effort of the therapeutic and educational staff ensures that the student is both learning and using these skills. |

In-home CTSS services include: parent training, counseling, and working with family members to identify, find, or provide other necessary help. The goal is to prevent a child from being placed outside of the home.

Anyone may refer a student to a CTSS Program. The majority of referrals are made by county
mental health case managers, school administrators, academic case managers, and mental health professionals.
A referral form may be obtained by contacting any of the program coordinators.

Please visit this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqSBWEjRggs to help promote good mental health for small children. One of my most heartwarming responses came from a colleague in Boston who works with juvenile offenders. He said that the video got him thinking and may change the way he works with some of the kids.
Thanks for your help. The babies can't click.

CTSS is a covered service under Medical Assistance and PMAP programs. Counties may have resources for payment for families they refer. Commercial insurance providers vary in their coverage of these services. |
